Gratin Dauphinois with Oregon Truffles

Makes:              6 Servings


3 Pounds Peeled and Sliced (1/8" thick) Yukon Gold Potatoes

2 Cloves Chopped Garlic

1/4 Grated Nutmeg

Salt and Pepper

1 Cup Grated Emmentaler Cheese

1 Pint Half and Half and ½ Pint Whipping Cream Mixed Together

1 Fresh Golf Size Sliced (Match Stick Style) Oregon Truffle (or preserved Truffle with juices)


Put all the above ingredients in a bowl, except for 1/3 of the grated cheese.  Mix well.  Pour the mixture in a glass or earthenware dish well-buttered and rubbed with garlic.  Add the rest of the cheese on top of the dish and cover with aluminum foil.  Put it in a preheated oven at 425 degree for 20 minutes.  Then, remove foil and reduce the temperature to 375 degrees.  Cook for approximately 40 minutes or until golden brown.
